Pogo is 19 years old. He has lived a good life and loved and been loved for all those years.

This night may be his last. What sadness that is to say. We will lose a child this night.

Thank you, Diane. Nineteen years is a good long time for a dog to live. It makes his passing all the harder for those whom he loved and who loved him.

My ex would have said, "He was just a dog!" and be bewildered that he was loved like a child. But then, that is why he is an ex. My David and I know what it is to love outside the human race. If ever there are aliens on this earth, us dog lovers are a step ahead in the capacity to love. It starts with the earth bound creatures of all kinds. We have been loved by many not so human beings. I love that.

has a mother and father who love him with all their hearts,
there aren't many animals who have this love and this breaks

I'm not so fond of pets in general - but it does not prevent me from understanding the pain of losing a loved pet. I interview many dog owners for swspotlight.com and the communication they share with their pets and the joy in their lives from having their pets - this is a very special relationship, and in your case one of many years.
