| 5/6/2013 Congress has nerve another way to tax the middle class , taxing shopping on the internet...I don't think it'll pass the house.. I feel this will make people think twice about shopping on internet plus paying shipping, I think if companies drop their shipping charges this may help... What is your opinion ? Cheers... Joe.. |

| Internet companies were exempted from collecting taxes to help them when they were just starting out 20 or so years ago. Now that status is just an unfair advantage over bricks-and-mortar stores. Why should Amazon not have to pay tax while B/N does? |

| I think taxing the purchase of goods is fair - anywhere. However, as far as gaining revenue, I'd rather they start with the loopholes that benefit only the super wealthy whose lifestyles won't dramatically change.
Sales taxes always affect the lowest incomes with the least expendable income first. The taxes are a higher percentage of what a lower income person must spend to have a rational lifestyle than the percentage of a wealthier person's income.
It should be no surprise. This country is run by the super wealthy; of course they will protect their loopholes and find other ways to raise revenue - even if those ways appear fair. |

The tax exempt status of Amazon is being challenged in the UK: http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/books/news/bringing-amazon-to-book-160000-sign-independent-shops-petition-amid-tax-anger-8586674.html |

| 5/7/2013 I think many companies in order not to loose customers will give free shipping, coupons, etc. The politicians in this country better wake up, their rear ends are on the line, it's called loosing your job in 2014 ! Cheers...Joe |

Look at this -a company called Redigi wants to resell electronic books. And, of course, Amazon is supporting them. If it's good for Amazon, it's good for the world, right?
"Already, each Amazon book page has a space for the price of a used Kindle edition. It’s still blank—for now, anyway." |
