| Hochzeitstag. 52 years of married ( ). Need help with the right word. Why is it that the man is expected to remember a wedding anniversary, and if he forgets, the wife never forgets? I finally remembered it before it was too late. Should I live another "X" years, perhaps I'll remember to remember provided dementia doesn't interfere. |

| Congratulations, Abe! God bless and keep you both healthy and happy through many, many more anniversaries.
Helpful fill-in-the-blank words: bliss, fulfillment, joy, completeness? You only forgot the anniversary because every day is special and a you celebrate it as soon as you wake up and until you go to sleep. That's why the anniversary caught you blissfully unaware. |

| A clue: Have a standing order with a flower shop to deliver a small but elegant bouquet or plant on the anniversary - and provide them with a card to go with it. Then,k if you forget, the florist will remember.
Men seem to be comfortable in their marriages and assume if all is going well their spouses know they are loved. Women seem to need reassurance that every year they are loved as much or more than the year before.
Measuring love by much or more has always been a puzzle to me. For me, love is an emotion that is felt as love, not in a quantity. Love is.
Men seem not to need special days to celebrate; whereas women seem to like celebrating the Hallmark series of events throughout the year. I always say, for the cost of a card, celebrate! |

| Congratulations, Abe!
Men remember events.
Women remember both events and exact dates. |

| Dear Abe,
After 52 years, you can look each other in the eye and need no words to express your love, friendship, companionship or comfort in knowing each of you loves the other. You have arrived at the bilss of marriage.
Happy Anniversary to you both.
Love,
Betty |

| Thanks to all of you. How great it is to have friends who care. The day turned out great. Nothing special planned. Wife had an appointment with the Frauenartz (woman's doctor) and afterwards we went to an outside cafe and had coffee u. Kuche. She delved into a very rich piece of cake with lots of wipped cream. She enjoyed herself. I have to admit that I also had a piece figuring it was a special day and I could ignore all the calories. |

| Good to hear you both had a lovely day, Abe. My mother forgot that her last anniversary was her sixty-fifth; she thought it was only sixty-four. The biggest surprise of all is that my father remembered the correct number of years. I quipped to my mother: "It obviously seemed longer to Dad than it did to you!" Those in jail count the years. LOL! |

| Coming up on 53 this summer. I hope to make it to 64. Being a computer programmer, I have a fondness for powers of 2. That will probably be the last such anniversary, the one after that being 128. Let's see, 53 is prime; what's the next one? Abe, way to go. Attapersons to you both. When folks ask how Judy and I made it this long I give my side of it: After learning to say, "I do," I learned to say, "Yes, dear." |

| I always thought that after 50 years, your wife loves you like a mother. hahaha. That is the good stuff....kind of unconditional love. That is the best kind. They have gotten over the shock by then, and , hopefully, so have you.
Love,
Betty |

| Thanks for the smiles. We just looked at each other yesterday and my wife said, "52 years and one day. Can't believe it." I said, "It is rare these days. The numbers at our age increase depending on how long we live." The lines/wrinkles just remind us that we have experienced much. Then there are other benefits, i.e., lack of jealousy, faithfulness, etc. It doesn't mean that we have lost the ability to dream, but perhaps the capability to act on those dreams. |

| As for that piece of cake, sweets on special occasions don't have calories. It's the ones in between that we have to watch. :-)

| I have known a few good men and like the story of the child with a curl in the middle of his forehead - when he was good, he was very very good, when he was bad he was horrid.
Long term marriages are a gift - and generally the product of making things work that other people give up on.
Love that lasts a lifetime gives a glow to the world.

Men expect that their women won't change. They do. Men stay thin easier and women widen easier. |
