Betty,
I very much appreciate the kind words--likewise Alice, D.K. and Joe for their response. Rod Serling is probably shaking his head in the Twilight Zone at your generous comparison amused but I hope not too terribly offended.
The little book is a journey of nearly 40 years from me, though only one story has gone though significant revision and editing during much of that time, so if it it takes you 40 years to read (assuming you don't give up long before then) it will be just about right.
I remember the first draft of my first story in the collection, Eternal Quest (same name throughout the years, by the way) that I wrote for a fiction workshop at Queens College getting comparisons from my classmates to Serling and to Poe. They were as generous as you and my apologies to both men as I know painfully well that I am not only not in the same ballpark but not even on the same writing planet they inhabited. What I hope we share is a willingness to explore the nooks and crannies of human consciousness--even the ones that are forever draped in shadows.
I am grateful for the kind words, and even more grateful that you have not given up on the book yet. That speaks more to your gentle spirit and good heart than to anything else.
