She was born in the same month and year as my mother and married in the same week and year (Princess Elizabeth). My parents received a rug from the palace as a wedding present (all the couples married in the same week received a present). Most people would hang the rug on a wall and keep it for prosperity. My mother used it as a fireside rug and wore it out. She did keep the letter that came from the palace, but the rug is long gone.
