| This is the free story this week. I post it here for DK Christi because it is a story about her lovely companion. She so graciously allowed me to write this story about him. Merry Christmas, Diane.
Love, Betty

| Your fables are more than just children's fables, Betty; they are expressions of the "new mythology for a unified world" that Campbell, May, Edinger and other Jungians write about.
And your latest stories have definitely not lost their touch.

- What myth does for you is to point beyond the phenomenal field toward the transcendent. A mythic figure is like the compass that you used to draw circles and arcs in school, with one leg in the field of time and the other in the eternal. The image of a god may look like a human or animal form, but its reference is transcendent of that.
Joseph Campbell;Pathways to Bliss Sport, Camille and Camilla, Wooffer - all of these "animal" characters speak to that "transcentent," universal truth. |

| You are all so kind. Without Diane giving me Sport, I could not have written the story. I am stagnant. Perhaps it is the demise of Wooffer and Sarah, but my brain is asleep.

| I suppose I should say it. I am so sad for the loss of my little 'children'. They were here for most of 20 years. It is hard. I loved them so very much. |

| Grieving is a process, Betty. It is natural that you feel their loss. Even harder at this time of year. Just know we love you here, and understand.

| I know, Annie, and it means a lot to me to have a place that I can just bawl my eyes out, sometimes. Jazzmin's sister, Gracie, died last week, too. She was with Pogo, my son's dog. We did not expect it. My Jeff cried for her loss as did we all. Pogo is going on 19 years. He is Wooffer's litter mate, and is as well loved as my Wooffer. It is all about age, you know. When people can live to be over 100, most dogs do not live past 15.
Jazzmin is the only one left here, and Pogo the only one left at Jeff's. Shelly, my daughter, still has Jazzper, who is around 15, and Bill, who is 10, and Gunny who is 5...Daisy passed away about 10 years ago.
Old age is not a joke, for human or animal. I have chickens who are about 12 years. They are still laying eggs. Go figure.
Love,
Betty |

| Where is DK? I hope she is well and that her gloom and doom houseguest has not rained on Christmas.
