| I have been working on the hydroponic operation this week, trying to get some of it ready to plant our winter house garden. While I was infirmed, the weeds took advantage on the ground cover and in the pots. But, I have worked hard and have one whole row ready to plant anew. That is 384 spots in the stacks and 35 7 gal pots at the bottom.
Any suggestions?
I plan the greens, .....spinach, swiss chard, collards, mustards, turnips.
Maybe some broccoli, cauliflower and cabbage.
What else?
Love,
Betty |

| Here's one of my favorites for wintertime: Kohlrabi. Good at both ends. |

| Dear Shelagh,
Thank you for the links. I tried to get my photobucket account to work so I could post a picture of the farm here. Alas! My computer has not kept up with their new graphic requirements, (I think) and I could not do it.
Being incapacitated for four months has had it's tole on the operation. Slowly I will get it ready for spring. It all needs new media, an expense that we cannot do this year. The option is to salvage what media (vermiculite and perlite mix ) that I can. That involves removing each pot and discarding weeds and roots to make it a viable mixture for new plantings. Still, all the weeds that were have left many, many seeds to sprout again.
It is such a beautiful way to grow vegetables (or flowers or herbs) but it does take new media about every 4 years. I need to win the lottery!
Love, Betty |

| Annie, Kohlrabi is in! And beets and radish and onions! It is always an amazement to me that something so small as an onion seed can make such a lovely onion. And lettuce! Talk about small seeds! Love, Betty |
