Your blog is definitely entertaining. Sometimes I just plain get tired of promoting. There's a local authors event at Barnes & Noble this Saturday and I did not join.

Here's the thing. The last time I did that some of the authors were so aggressive that they walked right in front of my table to lure customers to their books and then had the nerve to smile at me apologetically, or to stumble, "when you finish here" dragging my potential customer away.

I also find that I sell few books at these things with lots of local authors. People seem to wander, but don't seem to buy. On top of it, the store doesn't order the books - they are on consignment because they are small presses, vanity presses and self-authors all gathered in a gaggle as less than on "local author's day."

The best-selling, New York Times local authors don't show up on local authors day, only the struggling ones with smaller presses, etc. The others have their own day. They are not dumb.

I would have loved to have been involved in the B&N book signing and the one at DM indie book store and the one at the chocolate store. i keep finding out about them too late. I'm on tap for the one in February. Plus, I managed to get a table at my local indie store during the opening Christmas weekend after Thanksgiving.

Yeah, I'm working hard to sell books and every one counts.

I've been doing it since 2006 the multiple author way. I need a new way.
