Another newbie!

Hi! My name is Lori Duffy Foster and I'm thrilled to have found these forums.

I am a former newpaper journalist with degrees in creative writing.

I gave up full-time reporting after more than a decade ago to seriously pursue fiction when my first child was born. Twelve years and four children later, I have two completed novels (unpublished), two published short stories and I've just partnered with a wonderful agent. I primarily write mystery/suspense though one of my novels is literary/historical fiction with a strong crime element.

Welcome; I went the other way: wrote and published two novels and short stories in several anthologies and am now writing for a small town paper and loving it. The pay is paltry, but the experience challenges my mind from the diversity of content.

With all that - welcome! I look forward to a glimpse at your novels.

D.K., so much of what I learned and experienced as a journalist informs what I write now. I hope you enjoy it. I will probably post more when school starts. (We start Sept. 5.) I have four kids home now, including 5-year-old twins, and I'm struggling to get edits done for my agent, but I am very much looking forward to participating in these forums.

Aside from our similar ability to fashion life from arbitrary symbols, I relate wholeheartedly to your name. I LOVE coffee, and I swear my first novel was brewed in Arabica Blend!
