Amazon Added Search Inside To My Book?

I checked on my book Fools' Heaven on Amazon and was surprised to discover that they had added the search inside feature. I did nothing to make this happen. I wonder if it is because they now print POD books that are purchashed through their sight through Booksurge.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I haven't heard of that happening. You may be right about the reason for it.

My book was printed by iUniverse in 2004 and it took a fair amount of hassling and pushing on amazon to get them to add a search inside feature--and this was even after I sent them a copy of the book through channels.

You may be right: with a copy of your book rolling off their press, it might have been easier for them to scan it and put it on your page.

Amazon will not do this automatically unless you printed with Booksurge. If you did, you need to check your contract to see who owns the electronic rights. They probably also turned it into a kindle version. Otherwise, you have to do it yourself. I recently did it for four of our books, took about 4 days and was painless - just upload the .pdf file to their site and there it is.

Yep. Kindles are nice. I just wish the reader wasn't so expensive.
