Hello and looking for self-publishing advice/warnings!!

Hello anyone out there; we've published one book using AuthorHouse, aren't any too impressed virtually from the word to, have our second book in the final stages of tweaking before finding where to publish (all previous attempts to get mainstream being stymied by the downturn...!) so essentially I'm here to find as many horror stories or recommendations on self-publishers as I possibly can. From marketing successes/costs to people's own strengths & weaknesses using t'internet to do their own marketing. Basically the whole kit and caboodle.

PS yes we are actually selling books...... just not many so far in the US despite a bit of national TV and of course not being in shops doesn't exactly help despite the growth of internet sales.
