It's a nice story - we need 14 million of them. There was a time in this country when we lived in small communities where help was available from friends and neighbors. My neighbors have it as difficult as me - even worse - four lost their homes to foreclosure. They were not old enough to take early Social Security to stay afloat. They were families with children home - where both parents worked and both lost their jobs. In one family that had lived there since their children were babies, he worked construction and she sold real estate. In Florida, that was a double whammy. I can only hope things improved for them; they had two young children. Their home was modest. They were not over their heads - they were trounced by the failing economy. Before they left, both had been distributing flyers offering to do repair work, home sitting, home cleaning - and anything to make a buck. Whatever they brought in was not enough to keep their house.
