Quote :
WHEREAS, throughout our history, both as a state and
as individuals, Texans have been strengthened, assured and lifted up
through prayer; it seems right and fitting that the people of Texas
should join together in prayer to humbly seek an end to this devastating
drought and these dangerous wildfires;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, RICK PERRY,
Governor of Texas, under the authority vested in me by the Constitution
and Statutes of the State of Texas, do hereby proclaim the three-day
period from Friday, April 22, 2011, to Sunday, April 24, 2011, as Days
of Prayer for Rain in the State of Texas. I urge Texans of all faiths
and traditions to offer prayers on that day for the healing of our land,
the rebuilding of our communities and the restoration of our normal way
of life.

Well, we had one morning of serious rain last week, but other than that, our esteemed governor doesn't seem to have any special access. Maybe we should be directing our requests to Mother Nature.

You're in the West - how about a rainmaker? You know, seed the clouds, etc.

Clouds? Those white things in the sky? We haven't had many to seed.

Actually, it's overcast this morning, and when I went outside a bit ago, there is a breeze and a feeling of rain coming. And during the last week of April, the temperatures did drop from the high 90's and low 100's that they had been since the end of March to the high 80's and low 90's. Maybe it did help.

It just seems a little impious coming from the man who insisted the BP disaster was an act of God.

Dear Ann,
Here in the sub-tropical place that I live, we have only had a trace of rain for almost two months. It is hot, as it is there.

Praying is not the answer, I do not think. When rain does come, it will come in a fury. Here we will get 10 inches in a matter of an hour or so.
In two hours, no one could tell it ever rained . . except for the humidity. Water all flows out to sea so fast.

I listen for the thunder. At night, the lightening is a show for sure. I am glad I have the large window to see it. We shut off the lights and watch like the fourth of july.

My dogs hate thunder. What a mystery it is for them.

Love,
Betty
