I have friends who are flying to London today just to watch it. I don't know how much they'll actually see - might be easier to just watch it on TV, lol. I wonder if people can camp out days before for good spots, like they used to for concert tickets and now for iphones? lol

Since my favorite fairy tale is Cinderella - that's the appeal. Cinderella marries the prince and lives happily ever after - as though that's possible for any young woman who so desires. It happened for this one...
Such extravagance is also an escape from the drab economy.
I saw that some people have already started camping out - that's what we used to do in Pasadena for the Rose Bowl Parade.

I love English weddings. Our daughter was married in England and lived there for about 12 years. We had a house there for 9 monthes.
I miss England.

I truely love our Royal Family but I will not be watching the wedding I remember the last three we had and each of those ended in a messy divorce. The media will hound the young couple and those crucial early years of marriage will be under scrutiny. The pressures will be great. The young couple will not get any peace. I wish them well.

I pray that William will have a great marriage, that he will be King one day, I like him better than his father.....I hope the press has learned from the horrors they use to cause Princess Diana to leave this couple alone and in peace.....The press has no respect for anyone..
Cheers..Joe

I've read accounts that said she WAS aware, but married him anyway. And why not? Who needs true love when you can marry into that kind of money and privilege? Few women would turn that down.

She was so elegant, she fit the role of a princess perfectly, truly my "Cinderella" figure.
I actually admired him a bit (as much as I loathe infidelity ) for claiming his true love in the end in spite of the wrath of many. It seems he truly loves her. Ah, the romantic in me favors chasing true love. It sure wasn't her beauty. He had youth, beauty and the mother of his sons; yet, he hungered for his true love. Ah, the perfect novel.

I can't either. I think I'll go back to watching my "Cinderella" - Cinderella Man
(my first time)

:-( I am a romantic after all..... are there soul mates? If so, they find each other and sometimes prevail against all odds, good and bad.

Soul mates is not a term believed by all. I am glad for those who find theirs. I found mine; but it was not meant to be for other reasons.

I don't understand why the people in the UK give them wealth for doing nothing? What is their job?

They are for public relations. They look elegant and behave impeccably, usually.

The royal family is part of the culture and a big tourism draw. I think it's nice.
Re soul mates, I'm not sure what that even means. True love isn't the only reason to get married, and for milennia it wasn't even a consideration.

Sometimes two people warp their souls to match their mates. You have to be flexible.

Ah the old question! Sir before you make such accusations look here : http://www.royal.gov.uk/TheRoyalHousehold/Royalfinances/HeadofStateexpenditure.aspx all the answers are there. Head of state is a job that is as important as any government position. Only the Queen and Prince Phillip are funded by Government for that position.

Sometimes I think marriages were better then - fewer expectations, more willingness to work at it.
