My American family arrived yesterday afternoon. They flew in from London-Heathrow on British Airways. They were a half-hour late in arriving, but arrive they did.
My grandkids ran to give me a big hug. It was great.
And then on the drive home, they told me all about their great adventures in London. I don’t remember all that they told me, but the excitement in their voices said it all.
The most memorable, and funny, is their imitation of the British accent. I think when they return to school in the States they will be speaking British English – just to show off.
They had their wishes fulfilled for when they arrived. Where they wanted to sleep and what they wanted to eat. Gumi Bears and Chocolate topped the list. They had their Lentil Soup with Knack Würstchen (A Wiener with an outer covering that gives off a cracking sound when chomped into).
I gave Alice’s book, Living by the Swamp, to Natalie (eleven years old) to read. She has already finished it and loved it. I’ll take a picture of her holding the book and send it to Alice.
The kids have acclimated to our small village and have taken possession of the playground. My daughter, Caroline, wants Brötchen for breakfast tomorrow. So, I’ll get up early and go to the bakery. They told me all about their English breakfasts. They enjoyed all the new things – even the baked beans for breakfast.
I suppose I’ll have a wrap-up when their visit is over.
