3/3/2011

I'm thinking of putting my latest murder mystery. How many
pages are 5,000-7,000 words ? How many chapters are there
in 5,000-7,000 words ? I believe my new murder mystery would
be a " Winner !"

Cheers..Joe

Just use a word counter Joe.
There is a free program called roughdraft that among other things counts words.

I use yWriter, also free. One of the things it does is keep a running word count. It also helps you organize chapters, keep track of characters and settings, and helps you in many other ways as well. I looked it up after someone who once posted here recommended it.

Joe, most word processing programs have a word counter. Look under "tools" on your toolbar.

There is a PDF guide somewhere on the site that you can download to help you get started. It's a windows-based program, so you can learn a lot just by playing with it. Use the wizard to get a project started, and then you can input scenes, characters, etc by using "new" under the pull-down tabs across the top. The screenshots on the website are helpful, too.

Good luck with it, and I'll try to help with any questions you might have.

LC, apparently they've stopped using the PDF guide, but here is an online site that has a newer version of it:
