| Internet bullies are alive and well. How to deal with them is an interesting question. Your ideas? |

| Bullies are best ignored, Alice. The 'net isn't the best place for immediate understanding. It takes time for people to get to know and understand one another. How can the three words "I rule here" be taken seriously by anyone who really knows me? I can't figure out that one. |

| Thank you, Joe, Ann and Shelagh. Shelagh, I will take your stellar advice. As to your question, I can't figure it out either. |

| One way might be to change your avatar. I have decided to give expression, for a bit, to my inner animus.
I didn't think this up by myself. A fellow associate on the JCF forum recently decided to express his feminine side with a photo of Barbie Benton. I decided to play along. We've been having a bit of fun with it. Maybe it will be a little more intimidating than "glasses lady."

| I think it was the Author Society Forum where they had an "ignore" button. With that button, you would not see posts by the person you chose to ignore. I used it only once. The posts by that person were inflamatory and a constant source of irritation. One of the first things I do in the morning is check my emails and then go to this forum. I don't like to start my day with negativity. Allowing someone to cause me aggravation is a choice I must make. Without the button, I try to stay away from certain threads or posts. Sometimes curiosity gets the best of me, and I peek. A mistake. If "curiosity can kill a cat," then why do I fall into the trap?
Fortunately, there are posts that are positive, always with some wit and/or good information about writing. What I view or not view is my own responsibility and choice. |

| "..., google the username for background, weigh the merit of remaining on the forum, be sure of your facts, neither put on airs nor reply immediately, and if the worse comes to the worse, learn from the defeat..." proposed the goblin who also suggested both being anonymous and joining a troll's forum under another name, "...for example alice could join as godwithatitude, ann could be highschooldropout, LC as thunderthighs, betty as granbo, etc., in fact, we could go on a troll raid together there then, just one happy family now, not that I'm actually trying to corrupt you or anything, just thought it might help you get the most for your posting then..." mused the goblin now

Ann Well, I have to admit, Ann, that I never paid much, if any, attention to your avatar. For some reason, I can't seem to not look since you changed it. Strange. |
