That Enchanted Rock is considered the geological center of Texas? There are those who think it is the spiritual center of the world (or Earth, at least.) The Penateka Comanche who once lived there had close ties to the Hopi tribe. In fact, Daniel's grandmother was a Hopi, and had the Hopi wise woman goddess, Grandmother Spider, as a guide.

Yes! Enchanted Rock in the Fredericksburg Hill Country.

I lived in San Antonio and Austin for quite a long time. Always wanted to go there and never did.
While living in San Antonio we didn't have a car. So we either walked or went via VIA.

At one point we had planned a trip. We were to ride with some friends. But the car broke down and the plan fell through.

I'd heard the Tonkawa and Comanche were associated with Enchanted Rock, did not know about the Hopi. And I'd heard it called the Crying Rock because it supposedly makes eerie sounds. I'd also heard that it could make a person invisible.

Places with with legends and myths associated with it are such fun! I love magical places!

Me, too. That's why I wrote the Ghost Orchid, to document its magic an mystery for others to experience.
