| 11/9/2010 Hi.... Just read a great article on the economy and how people are getting very frugal. So do you clip coupons, shop for great deals? I'll go first. I always check the Sunday papers for coupons or try to download them. As far as gifts go I put a limit on each, to me it has to look good, if I love it , they'll love it and the price has to be right....I also shop Tuesdays Supermarket ads for great deals.. Cheers..Joe.. |

| I like a good deal.
I also like shopping on the internet. I just ordered a TV combo from Walmart which will be shipped to our house for $.97.
We don't have a paper any longer. I was wondering if we should have gotten gold--it is $1400.00 an ounce now. It is probably not a bargain now. |

| I've always been frugal. I was raised that way, and overall, it's not a bad way to be raised. I have things I splurge on, we all need splurges to make life colorful. However, my frugality makes me unsympathetic to articles I read about people who lose their jobs, and to conserve, stop eating out three times a week or start shopping sales. There are too many articles portraying such people as poor victims, when a little frugality would have kept them from being the subject of a newspaper article in the first place. |

I am so sorry.
Hope the one improves before you have the next one done. You have awhile. |

| Hey David, I'd avoid that English NHS at all costs, nothing good seems to come of it!

| My daughter loved it.
She had both of her kids in England and felt very well served by it.
The doctors even make house calls there.
The midwives came also. They were a cheery bunch. |

David..
I wish you luck, as they say this shall pass too ! Today Thursday I go in for the right eye surgery. When I saw the Dr. on Monday I took a pressure test, the results were great, then I took an eye chart test with my left eye which was already done I read the chart from one end to the other , he said that eye has 20-20 .....
Cheers..Joe |

| I am not buying jewelry, that is for certain. At $1400.00 an ounce for gold, I have sufficient. A friend is out of work. I gave him a couple of pieces of mine, he can sell it and use it better than I can.
This is a good time to not flaunt your wealth. Desperate people may snatch and run. I worked in a jewelry store and learned to be very careful. People with large flashy diamond rings should turn them to the inside before venturing outside.
A word to the wise is sufficient

| My mother is the most frugal person I know. She did not work but stayed at home to care for my brother who was ill. She NEVER bought anything at the retail price, clipped coupons, collected green stamps, re-used everything, threw away nothing, cooked from scratch, made her own curtains, seldeom ate out etc. etc. I swore I would NEVER live like that, counting every penny. I worked diligently and wisely to live a comfortable life. The economy destroyed those hopes. I clip coupons, save whatever saves and do without a lot of stuff. I take advantage of the entertainments at no cost in addition to other events at no cost. I transfer prescriptions for a $25 gift card. I watch online for bargains. I don't buy what I want; I buy what I must have. |

| My mother could pinch a penny until it screamed also. Niot a bad trait, I think they never got over the depression. I am qute ashamed of my overspending practices and do not plan to return to them.
Why should I have an oversupply and others be in need? I am enjoying giving away my surplus.
I like the uncluttered house also. |

LC I am lucky I guess because the NHS has such long waiting lists the government has made them use Private hospitals to improve the situation. My last op was done in a private hospital and so will my next one. This is all still done under NHS but privately and it is not costing me anything except pain. |

| My mom was one of the best savers and a very frugal shopper, too. Many times she had coupons and bought things on sale where she got things for almost nothing. After all of us had moved out, her basement was like a warehouse of goods. She couldn't pass up a bargain!
I learned very well from her and clip coupons, shop sales, and research just about anything that I buy to get the best price. |

| David, I am glad that nurse is not working now. Nothing is perfect. I hope your pain is short-lived. Because of the delay in my surgery, I became drug dependent again. Getting off is not fun. How great that you get to have a private hospital. I talked to my daughter again and she misses the English system. Here she pays $350 for insurance per month and then a copay if they see a doctor. Hi, Helen, So glad to see you and hope your Mom is still improving from her pneumonia bout. |
