| No surprise at all. The e-book community readily admits that the medium is not conducive to research. Indexes. page thumbing, dog ears, margin notations, etc. Those inroads won't be made until they get past the current limitations. Which they will. Or until future generations of e-kids don't even know what a book is. To resist is futile. |

| Actually, most ebook readers allow for bookmarking, highlighting and commenting, but it isn't really the same as being able to copy, cut, and paste, is it.

Ann No, it isn't, and the human factors they apply are less than acceptable. But they've got hundreds of years of tradition to catch up with. We're still in the 1st generation of e-book readers. iPad seems a bit closer than other readers but the cost is prohibitive. Two of the obstacles are the absense of indexes and footnotes. Different paradigms will evolve. |
