| I mentioned on another thread that a book with a chapter about me showed up on Amazon. The book is published by Books LLC. They gather and publish information from Wikipedia. This is the book with a chapter about me on the booksllc.net website: http://booksllc.net/book.cfm?id=3743825 They are charging $9.99 for a downloaded PDF file of a 30-page book containing information that is free on Wikipedia. On the FAQ page, it states: Wikipedia is free. Why should I buy a book with Wikipedia content? By all means go to wikipedia.org. Our Wiki books are bought mainly by libraries and people who prefer to read a paperback than a computer screen. We only charge for compiling, editing, indexing, typesetting, designing, printing, binding and shipping of books--not for the content. http://booksllc.net/faqs.cfm |

| This topic is not controversial enough, obviously. |

| Shelagh,
I went to the site to read about it and my mouse quit working. That scared me so badly, I shut off my computer. I turned it back on and the mouse on the keyboard worked, so I looked at my rollerball Kensington add on and saw dust. I was removing the dust when I dropped the ball under the desk and had to get Dave to retreive it.
Then it was high time to check in for our fliight to Maui. You people without Parkinson's have such dull lives. My son called while I was typing this and I went for the phone like I would have in my pre-Parkinson's days and found myself sitting down on the floor.
Thank God, It was a very gentle landing with no blow to my head and the place I landed was carpeted.
I am interested in the chapter about you and promise to read it when I feel a little braver. In the meantime I will trust it is very good because you are excellent. |

| LOL! Alice, what an interesting life you lead! I did a search on my name on Amazon and this book appeared with my name on the front: I did a search on Books LLC and learned that they publish information gathered from Wikipedia. The Shelagh Watkins page on Wikipedia is long gone but the information from that page is now in print. |

| Thanks, Alice, but it is no great achievement. It seems to be vanity publishing at its worst. The hope is that people included in these books will buy copies for themselves and their families. A print copy (30 pages) is selling on Amazon at £9.93 ($14.14).
This disclaimer appears on the publisher's website:
"was expecting the book to be bigger. Some of our books are more than 1,000 pages and some are as short as 20 pages. Our website and online book sellers list the page length of each book. Therefore, it's important to check that to avoid disappointment."
I think anyone would be disappointed with a 30-page book that cost £10! Forever Friends has 280 pages selling at $9.99 on Amazon.com! |

Well, that would depend on the content -if it had some really good stock tips, I'd consider it money well spent. |

| You mean a chapter about me is not money well spent? Crushed. |

| Only a chapter? Have you considered that it may be an entire book with a sequel. |
