| I know some about rainbows, how they are formed and how lovely they are. I like the story of Noah and the covenant of the bow of God. Tonight we had two rainbows. One above faded, but the under one got brighter. The child in me loves rainbows. I prefer to look at them as miracles made just for my eyes. I am selfish that way.
I have bought great Austrian crystals for my children to hang in the sunshine coming in a window so they can have rainbows all the time. What a nice symbol of hope are rainbows. The ultimate glitter.
Love, Betty

| Joe, I love your photographs! Betty, a friend of mine gave me a candle holder that was cut glass sitting on a small mirror. I placed it on a table just left of the front window.
The next morning, when I entered the living room, it was a rainbow. The sun had just hit the cut glass and spread a myriad of rainbow colors through the entire room. I was awestruck. |

| I was flying a small plane with my wife and kids near Canyon Ferry, MT in the Spring of 1973. We were returning to Virginia from a visit to my brother in Missoula. The valley runs north and south. There were rainclouds to our left and the setting sun to our right. To the east we saw two concentric rainbows. I had never seen that before. Because we were at altitude, the rainbows were complete circles. I had never seen that before, either. I grabbed the camera and took some pictures while Judy flew the airplane. Somewhere in my piles of memorabilia are the color slides I took. I had forgotten them. Thanks for reminding me. I'll have to go looking for them. |

| Lovely, Joe. What mountains are those behind? Santa Fe is beautiful.
When I was a kid, We had to remember the colors of the rainbow with ROY G BIV... red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet. As an artist, you know that, I know.
Diane, In my blind eyes in the night, I see the ceiling in our bedroom where the small green light from the smoke detector shines on the ceiling. The Ceiling fan goes around and around and the moon shines throught the window shades making horizontal lines on the ceiling and the green light of the smoke detector flashes with the beat of the fan along with the pattern of the blinds. I see this all in a haze of blindness.
I have an eye glass that has so many refractions of light that I save it to show my baby grands the Christmas tree. I love light. Light is beautiful in all it's many reflections and reractions. Eyes, ours or a dragonfly, grasshopper, dog ...well each has an individual interpretation of the view. God bless us all.
Love, Betty |

| Dear Al, The only time I have seen double circle rainbows was in a soap bubble. I imagine you were looking out from inside the bubble. I love that..

| The center of a rainbow's arc is on a straight line that comes from the sun, passes through the back of your head, out between your eyes, and goes straight to the rainbow's center. For the rainbow to be more than a 180 degree arc, you must elevate your head far enough above the horizon and catch the sun at the right time in its descent. Everything has to be perfect for it to happen. And for it to happen with concentric rainbows must be even more unusual. I'm glad I got pictures. I'll probably never see that sight again. |

| All beautiful! Rainbows are such a promise of hope. The house where we lived when I was a little girl had a beveled glass front door. Every afternoon, as the sun came across it, the living room was filled with tiny rainbows. I loved that door. The people who built the house were named Arensen. There was a swirling letter "A" etched into the middle pane. I used to think it stood for "Ann's house." Ann |

| ..... During the night, a strong westerly breeze had blown away the blanket of clouds and, by the following day, the early morning sun was already dazzling brightly in a clear blue sky. ..... That morning, Mr. Planemaker was up early. As he carefully descended the stairs, he noticed the slanting rays of sunshine that lit up the lower staircase and the front hallway. When he turned on the half landing, the strong light streaming through the stained glass window made him look away. ..... As he averted his eyes, he glimpsed a ray of twinkling light catching the edge of the hallway mirror like a prism and bouncing back onto the white walls in a spectrum of rainbow colours. ..... Emmelisa, who heard her daddy’s footsteps on the stairs, ran from the kitchen into the hallway. When she came into view, Mr. Planemaker said, “Look how the sunlight has split into all these coloured speckles on the wall. Watch.” ..... He held out his hand between the mirror and the ray of light, blocking the light ray and stopping it from landing on the mirror’s edge so that the coloured fragments disappeared. ..... Emmelisa, who loved colours, called out, “Bring them back!” ..... Mr. Planemaker removed his hand and the refracted kaleidoscope of dappled light reappeared. ..... “Let me do it,” Emmelisa demanded, climbing the stairs and holding out her arms towards her daddy, who scooped her up and gave her a kiss on the top of her soft, light brown hair.

| LOL! I have to agree! The daft thing is, I never tire of reading it! I'm supposed to see all the flaws (which I do!) and become embarrassed by it. It hasn't happened yet -- and I've read it a thousand times! I'm an idiot. |

| Dear Ann,
How nice that your house had the letter A on the door. That is some cool beans. I do know my beans.
