2ND GARDEN COLUMN- IVY LEAF GERANIUMS 101_1710

This is my 2nd garden column and today I will discuss one
of my favorite garden plants, " Ivy Leaf Geraniums." This is
one plant that keeps on giving all Summer long. In early Spring
I go to the nursery and I pick out all kinds with flowers that are
solid red, solid white, lavendar, tri-color ( usually has white with
specks of red or purple,) salmon. I usually wind up buying 20 to
30 plants. I buy empty hanging baskets and put them in-between
the Hummingbird feeders hanging from the portal. I also put single
plants in single pots and I have special wrought iron hangers and
I add these to the beam of the portal. Ivy geraniums love sun and
will flower all Summer long, water them when semi-dry to the
touch , feed once every two weeks with 20-20-20 and as a special
feeding I use BR 60 it's a fertilizer that promotes heavy flowering,I
use this every three weeks and I also use it in the garden on all
flowering plants. Today we had # 14 snow storm !, I can't wait
for Spring....Until my next garden column, happy gardening......

Cheers...Joe..2ND GARDEN COLUMN- IVY LEAF GERANIUMS Icon_flower

Beautiful, Joe! I can't wait to plant outside! Our temps are in the 70's today, so it feels very close. Boo to snow! Hope spring is coming your way soon.

Helen...

Your mouth to God's ears, "SPRING !"
Even the birds are getting upset. Dusty is very
depressed , she hates the cold and snow and loves
to go out on the patio and sit on the fence in the
garden , checking her domain...

Cheers..Joe

This must be unusual weather you're having. I picture New Mexico as being warm by now. What's up with that much snow? Poor Dusty.

Helen...

I've been here 10 years and I've never
seen that many snow storms. Here they have all four
seasons, the sun is too strong for me, so I wear dark
sunglasses, the altitude is 7,500 feet. I'm thinking of
moving back east, maybe upstate New York near my
sister-in-law , she lives an hour away from Albany.
They only had so far one bad snowstorm 3 feet....

Cheers...Joe

I love geraniums, all kinds

It is too early for them in Washington. In the meantime I make do with primroses. the winter cabbage is over now.

I also have a pot of daffodils, tulips, etc.

What a neat column, Joe.

I love geraniums, they're so hardy. I put large pots of them on my front porch each spring. They're about all I ever plant anymore, due to how long-lasting they are.

I like to intersperse them with petunias.

Hot pink geraniums with purple petunias are really showy.

I Found the column at last.

Joe this should explain why I am not a gardener:

Not So Gardener

I’m a not so gardener
I not so garden all the time
Not so gardening is a passion
one of many that are mine.

I’m an avid a not so gardener
I even wrote a book
It’s called Not So Landscape Garden
it’s really worth a look.

My garden’s full of weeds and shrubs
the grass is overgrown
and with my not so lawn mower
it’s often not so mown.

I’ve often lost a child or two
when they’ve gone out to play,
a nephew and his auntie's niece
when they came round to stay.

I know they’re out there somewhere
even though the grass is tall
if you listen carefully
you can often hear their call.

The police sent out a search team but
they haven’t seen them since:
a female forensic scientist
and a Constable called Vince.

All of them are missing
but we know they’re still alive
we always see their camp fire smoke
every day at half past five.

Next time you not so garden
can you cast a thought my way
I’ve lost my pets my kids my wife
now her mother came to stay.
