It's drool worthy, isn't? Oh I think it'll be a hit. I'm not a fan of tablet PCs but I think Apple has the goods with this one.

Does it seem at times as if technology is whizzing past at an alarming rate? I can barely learn to use my latest cell phone before a new one comes out.
All this...and they still can't beam me from one side of the globe to the other.
sigh...

It does! To quote Kevin Smith, "We're living the future, I just wish it would slow down!"

iPad, iPod and just plain POD are the future. Isn't that so, Chris?

My crystal ball is broken, so I have no idea.

Now that's funny. You accuse the members of this forum of being advocates of POD dominating the market, and yet you have no idea which way the market is going!

I did no such thing. If you have a quote of mine where I did such a thing, post or link to it.

You didn't say that? Well, that's good to know. This forum is not about self-publishing, POD publishing or commercial publishing: it is about all three, in equal measures.

So noted.
The iPad is spiffy.

I seriously doubt this will be a big hit like the iPod and iPhone. It's an awkward size, doesn't fill a new need, is technologically crippled (no camera, no mulit-tasking, etc.) and is frightfully expensive. Why pay two/three times for this thing what you'd pay for a netbook? Some people are adoring it, but I'd call that a faith-based phenomena.

The launch of the ipad has been slightly delayed and won't be available until April 3rd:

And that's just for the US. I think this thing is going to bomb, frankly. It looks more like geek appeal than useful for the average person, and the geeks hate the lockout of Flash and no multi-tasking.
