| I see ya all are being verbally abused becasue ya don 't beleive in commerical publishing.
Do ya take a vow or what?
I never saw any posts opposed to it or I'd have staryed far away from here.
The way I look at it is this away. I write so good publishers query me. I get on average of five requests per week for a book. Then when they turn my books out they sell like hot dogs.
The only draw back is the mass riots and hysteria I am subjected to at book signings.
I've been wanting to try PublishAmerica because I have heard they are a bit lax on marketing. |

NEED MORE BE SAID? I don't worry about grammar and spelling, that 's what my editor does and does very well. It is the ideas that count. I thought you were gone because of Alice. I am so glad you are back. This forum needs someone with vision

Of course we are a dime a dozen. Once you get on that list it is hard to get off. Publishers hound you day and night for more, more more. |

| Cturkel,
Welcome back my idol. It was none other than your publishing lectures that totally convinced me you were right.
How daft of folks to argue with you! |

| So now we have a NYT best-seller who has been on the list for ten years with one book, but it hounded by "publishers" and got there because of advice from Turkel. How many plot problems can we spot in this one? |

| I don't think anyone here took a "vow." I'd love to be published by a big time publisher and be on the best seller list somewhere.
It hasn't happened in spite of query letters, learning which publishers to query, etc. I have an advanced degree, and can write fairly well.
I am 72 years old, have been writing for years, but also had other things in my life like a professional job, kids, grandkids, etc.
So my choices are the following:
1. Give up writing, retire quietly. 2. Write and self-publish, publish with PublishAmerica etc. 3. Keep hitting my head against a brick wall. 4. Keep coming to this messageboard to talk about writing, marketing what I have published, improving.
I choose #4. I argue with no one. I just want to write.

Excuse my error. It is books not book. After the first was released, there arose such a clammor for more that I was tempted to go with PA. Cturkel talked me out of it. Listen to Cturkel. He will show you the way. |

| I really am only 71. I look younger. The picture was taken two months ago.
My birthday isn't until next month.
I began writing years ago, actually decades ago. I love to write, have written nonfiction.

Carol Thank you for your candor. My picture was taken when I joined this forum. I am 105 years old and my birthday is fast approachng. If it were not for Cturkel, I would be in your unfortunate situation. |

| I am glad you have gotten support from CTurkel.
I like the people here: Shelagh, Alice, Betty, Ann, Abe, and the others. They are good friends and good writers.
Check out my website or what Shelagh has written under featured authors.
I do not consider myself in an unfortunate situation. I could have given up a few things in life, but decided long ago there was nothing I wanted to give up.
Congratulations on your successes in writing.

I can't find a thing she has written. Lin does not agree with her.

| Lin does not agree with anyone. Lin hasn't got where he is today by agreeing with people. The very idea.

| Once, when I first found computers and email and a thing call ICQ, I profiled myself as 104, a teacher and an unmarried old woman. When people began to believe me, they ask me about the sinking of the Titanic and how things were so many years ago, I felt sorry. I killed myself off.
New York, thank you for your words about Wooffer. I am proud that your read my words. Perhaps you could spread my name around that New York crowd every chance you get. I could come and do a signing.
Love, Betty |
