Reflections of a Queen
By Dana Rettig

I am a Queen for many reasons.
Here is my reply.

I always loved God.
Hence, when things had occurred; I never asked Him why.

I always stood tall and proud.
I never accepted anyone’s mess.

I always took pride in myself.
Because I always saw myself as the best.

No, I am not cocky because that’s not how I roll.
I’ve been through so much drama in my life.

Sir, you just don’t know.

You don’t know what I’ve seen, been through, or heard.
Still, I swallowed my pride and followed the Word.

It says, “I am the Light and the Truth.”
Still, I don’t comprehend how you can hurt me knowing I am a part of you.

God made me from your rib but you still don’t see.
How badly you are truly hurting me.

I gave you a part of me hoping you would see.
I am not an ordinary woman; I am a Queen.

I have been through Hell and back.
Still men like you won’t cut me any slack.

That is okay; I will not cry.
I am glorious in the Lord’s eyes.

I am God’s child.
I am beautiful, loyal, and strong.

Again, I will not be sad because I know I will be fine on my own.

I agree, Brenda. It sounds to me like someone who has discovered a new strength.
