Don't suppose anyone here ever heard of Stuart Kaminsky, but he was an excellent mystery writer and a Grand Master Of Mystery Writers of America. He was a kind and friendly man always willing to help anyone in need. His usual routine was to spend two or three months researching and outlining and then write the book in a couple of weeks. I recall him saying one day that sometimes he would be laughing as he wrote because he was wondering what the characters would do next. I don't know how many books he wrote but there were many dozens of them. He had at least four series, my favorite being one about Porfiry Roshnikov, a Moscow detective. About two years ago I reminded him he hadn't written a Roshnikov book for a while so he wrote one that now will be the final in the series. A great guy - a former professor at Northwestern. He died Oct. 9 in St. Louis at age 77.

Dear Dick,
I read a book where Roshnikov was the detective a long while back. Name some books!

I am sorry for your friends passing. Consider that he has joined the cosmic plasma of all the people and animals who have passed before.

Love,
Betty

That is one of the problems of getting older, your friends and family die. One day you wake up and realize you are one of the oldest in the family. I miss all the people who have gone before me. I remember old times with them. But then there are new people in our lives, the next generations. That is good.

Sorry about your friend, Dick.
