| The talks about health care continue: The opponents say, “It’s too expensive. We can’t afford it.” Could we afford the war in Iraq? Can we afford the ongoing war in Afghanistan? Can we afford the billions we continually shell out to our friends the never-ending conflict in the Middle East?
When it comes to the welfare of the American citizens, they continue to take a back seat to politics. So who are our representatives in Washington representing?
To hear the politicians talk, they claim to be doing what is best for America. God Bless America! Who or what is America? Is it some landmass that is supposed to have some imaginary power? Are the citizens of this country tools to use and then discard when they are no longer useful?
We are America. We the citizens. We have needs and desires that our government, yes our government is there to provide. An environment to work and enjoy life with equality for all. Does equality exist with healthcare? The haves have it. Those who don’t have as much have little or no protection.
It’s time to get our priorities straight and do the things that benefit the citizens of this country. And when we are asked to defend our country, we will be ready. We will be healthy and willing to sacrifice since we were helped when we needed it. |

| Good post, Abe. I agree. There were people who stood up at town meetings and shouted their views, but were they planted, did shouting help, did they really understand what they were shouting about or for?
I am so emotionally involved in the health care issues. I want every cancer patient to be able to have the expensive life-saving medicine I can get. There is agreement on the need to increase the survival rates for cancer. Well, one way would be that every cancer patient would have access to care without being refused when they no longer can work because of their health conditions or reactions to treatment, or they move to another job and have "a preexisting condition."
And it also goes to improving the system, that if we can't get enough doctors trained to provide the expanded needs for service that will be needed when this finally passes, that we are creative in our use of other medical professionals for gatekeepers of service needed and listening to concerns and giving information, that electronic records will be available for easy access to service, that people won't have to wait months for a diagnosis as their health deteriorates.
We are a great country and hopefully more educated than the government seems to think at times as they give simplistic answers to complicated issues. We have been pioneers in many fields. We don't have to copy any other health plan, although we need to know the good parts and bad. We can create a caring system.

Abe...
Bravo....I've noticed in the last few years the politicians forget, they are not our bosses, we are their bosses...We elect them, we tell them what to do..They also forget the following : " We the people, for the people, by the people " ......
Cheers..Joe |
