This is another coat of arms I designed. This one I particularly like. The gear stands for science, technology, inventiveness, and creativity. The two colors on the shield in equal proportion stand for balance in life. The balance scale crest also stands for this and also stands for equality, moderation, wisdom, and justice. The color blue is my favorite color and also stands for tranquility and inspiration. White stands for peace and the light of all that is good. Finally, black stands for stability. The motto, the Latin Virtus means virtue, courage, or manliness.

One thing I really like about this design is the beauty of its simplicity.

Some names you can't find coats of arms for, or at least you can't find any free images of them. I, for exapmle, can't find any coats of arms for my mom's side of the family (her madin name was Oberto). Sometimes, I think it's better to design a coat of arms for yourself that can represent you spicifically. Family coats of arms, though beautiful works of art do tend to be rather generic. When I first completed the coat of arms with the gear, I was amazed by the beauty of its simplicity. There is something about simplicity that in my mind is profoundly beautiful. I love the blue color in the design; blue is my favorite color. I also like the simplicity of the one word motto, which is Latin for Virtue, Courage, or Manliness. Beauty in simplicity, it's a wonderful thing.

I do all my design work in Photoshop, mostly using the custom shape tool. To do coats of arms like I do, you need to download special custom shapes from the internet. I don't remember the website where I got my heraldic shapes, but search the internet for Photoshop Custom Shapes and you should be able to find something. It is also good to know how to use layers, so you don't end up eracing the wrong thing when you have to cut something down to size.
