Lonesome Dove Empty
PostSubject: Lonesome Dove   Lonesome Dove EmptyThu Sep 17, 2009 7:23 am

Doves mate for life.
The pair of doves that stayed around our house is now reduced to one.
For the past week, this lonesome dove seemingly cries or calls for its mate. It flies from one place to another calling. It sounds so sad. We can only assume that the mate perished.

Does anyone know if a dove will find another partner when one has perished?

Thanks Marie.
I have no idea if the dove is a guy or gal.
They both wore the same clothes. Lonesome Dove Icon_biggrin
I never noted any special markings.

A pair of mourning doves visit our bird feeders. Their cry is so plaintiff and they never seem as chipper as other birds.
I made a few enemies in Indiana when In my column I campaigned against allowing them to be hunted. Guess I wasn't too diplomatic because I said I had no respect for any man with a gun who felt killing a mourning dove was sport.
