PostSubject: Pot's on, any time...   Pot's on, any time... EmptyMon Jun 29, 2009 1:50 am

Hi, KAWFEEEE here. Writer/musician/soul food chef. have pen. will travel

Been published, but nothin' to write home about. I'm basically a regular kinda guy.

However, I did calculate one day that I've trekked more miles than Marco Polo, logged more oceans than Magellan, and have more frequent flier miles than Neil Armstrong.

I'm currently in the Philippines. 12-hours ahead ...and 50 years behind.(EST that is)

I'm usually on line. stop by anytime. love to chat. any excuse to take a break. And, I make a mean espresso. bring rum...

KAWFEEE!

Stay, since lately new people come on and don't stick around. It sounds like you would be a great asset to this group.

Extensive travel is something that is part of my past, and now I am an armchair traveler with hopes for a future of further adventures. My son-in-law loves the Philippines and recently went there for martial arts training.

Welcome!!!

Ah, here's your intoduction. I said it on another thread, but it bears repeating. Welcome to the forum, I think you'll fit right in. I'll skip the rum, but espresso sounds grand.

My only concern is that your avatar is one a treasured member of this forum used at one time, and your stated age is 99! I checked your profile and you were born in 1919 which would only make you 89 or 90.

Clearing up those concerns might help with your welcome here!

Welcome to the forum. I'm a coffee addict, but usually cheap about it, and that mean's store-bought Maxwell house in a drip coffee maker.

But I somebody else makes something better, I don't mind drinking it.

Any chance you have a teapot? Coffee is good. But, I love peppermint tea!

WOW!

What an over-reaction! Since you are new, you cannot know that Carol is the farthest person from your description around here.

It's just a curiosity, I'm sure, that we were discussing that particular avatar only a few days ago, right here on this board. An old friend here once used it. It's the only other time I recall seeing it.

Knowing Carol, I'm certain she meant no offense.

Well, I guess we cleared that up.

I have been concerned lately that we are welcoming people and then become overly suspicious and not very nice. I have tried not to join into those comments because I believe in giving people chances and not being overly suspicious, and if someone has some problem with another person or what they have posted, then ask.

I did. I got my answer.

There are reasons my son-in-law did not go to the Philippines for the reason you suggested, but they are none of your concern.

Carol,

That avatar is free use on the net and you don't need to declare your real age. This is the member who just left:

Shelagh,

I asked the above questions. I did not consider them offensive. I checked the link and find him quite interesting and wish he would stay.

Kawfee,

My son-in-law is a Navy doctor. The Navy checked that he went where he was supposed to go. He has a career he would never jeopardize. He will begin a residency in psychiatry at Portsmouth, Virginia on Wednesday, paid by the Navy. I am proud of this young man.

Kawfree,

I admire your avatar. I once had one identical to it.

Your lack of patience with our friend, Carol is both puzzling and perplexing.
Perhaps you are feeling peevish--please do not take it out on a stranger who merely questions your age.

To say you are 99 when you were born in 1919 is a bit of a stretch. Perhaps you feel that old. My mother shares your birth year and if alive would now be 90.
I sometimes feel like I am at the very least 150 and in truth am not yet half that age.
Carol was correct to pick up on it. Give her credit where credit is due.
if you wish to post here, do so.

Carol is not a mean person and you need to get to know her.

He probably was a troll.

Good job!

Without all of the comments that have been posted, this thread makes no sense at all.

It should be deleted in its entirety.

Interesting what you can find with a bit of research. I found j guevara on AW, but j guevara no longer exists:

Interesting that he was asking about competitions!

I've done this on forums before.
I don't always like posting my age online.
And I will choose the earliest year listed.

It is just a matter of being private about certain things.

I don't want to start a debate the issue.

Simply, I would not consider it a big deal to post that I am 90 or even over 100 years old ... nor would I have mentioned it to a new person. But that is just me.

ps - you may notice that Shelagh, I, and a few others do not even post their age here.

Without the original posts, nothing else is in context. Not that I care a lot for context, cause I sometimes write on other topics, such as dandylions.

Have you noticed that the dandylions are quite plentiful this year? There should be plenty for wine and other dandylion dishes.

And how about those Braves?

The plot thickens. . .

So, who wrote that beautiful story?

Why did everything disappear on this person after yesterday?

E. Don,

Just imagine this poster wrote the worst about me that could be said. I am glad Shelagh took it down, because I did not want this associated with my name in any way.

I don't think the thread should be deleted as there is some important information connected with this person.

JoElle, I didn't post my age for a long time. I don't think it is necessary, but posting conflicting dates was confusing. I am very sorry I brought up the subject at all, but the results are of concern and can perhaps give some insight as to what is going on with some of the people who come here for reasons besides the reasons we are here.
