Okay, so I decided to organize my cyber life.

And I think I need to start a 12 Step Program for cyber addiction. I can not believe how scattered around I am. Do I need to be in all these online places????

Just my signature alone is embarrassing!!!

I have pages on MySpace and Facebook.

I belong to four writer forums, two fantasy forums, and two trucking forums.

I belong to RedRoom and a writers chatroom.

I have three websites. My writer website, a family website, and my Fantasy Horoscopes website.

AND ... I think I may be in a few other places I just don't remember. I am not finished looking for myself.

Do I need all this? Do I? Do I?

I know what you mean, JoElle. I'm pretty sure I belong to a couple of sites that I no longer visit but can't remember what they are!

Dear JoElle The Elf,

You know that I love you. You have a beautiful and green to the core spirit. Forest like. Today, I saw the wild turkey brood wandering through the tall grass. Elf like they are. So incognito in color and almost invisible. I imagine the elf coats to be so.

I am not so much into message boards of late because, as you say they scatter youself into places you never even thought about going. I do this lovely place and once in a while I do a confrontation with Pier on my publishers website. She is so mean! But there are people there who are like I was in the beginnings.

I think we all need this. A place that our minds and words can connect. I think about all the people who have no book to talk about, the people who sit there day by day and have nothing to look toward but Judge Judy.. Nothing against Judge Judy...well you get my thought.

People need purpose, a reason to get up in the morning. My high school daughter does some volunteering at a nursing home. Despite the staff's efforts, it's a depressing place. A lot of the residents simply have nothing to do. No reason to get up. That's why they sit around in their pajamas all day, depressed. Or maybe they always did that? Who knows.

About message boards. I lurk on and off on about two dozen. I post on four. It's not time entirely wasted, I take away what I need, too, mostly ideas and inspiration.

Personally, when I spend too much time on social networking sites, I see that more as a way to avoid writing than as either legitimate learning or promotion.

My primary job is to write, not yak about writing. On days when I'm lazy, I often forget that.

Ha! I know exactly what you mean, JoElle! I belong to way too many sites, but I've narrowed them down to a few that I even look at anymore.

You can do it, too. I highly recommend cutting back. You'll be glad you did!

And who knows what you'll be able to do with all that free time!
