| I like Father's day! The best trick I ever pulled on Dave was on Father's day.
The kids were gone. Becky in England and Dan in CA. They had all been home for Mother's day which we celebrated in Disneyland.
I brought Dan and Steph home for Father's day weekend. I waited until Dave was sound asleep then went to the airport and collected them. I sneaked them in the house and told them not to cough or sneeze till I gave them permission.
The next morning , Dave got up and pattered about the house. When he went to the garage to get the cat out. I had the kids come out and stand in the kitchen. He was so shocked, we still laugh about it. |

| Well, Is anyone doing anything for Father's day?
Fathers are people too. The mothers are worshipped like saints, give the fathers a break.
Says, I. |

| Tom and I are doing our duo presentation of my book, Flow On Sweet Missouri, at the local Civil War reenactment in the morning. I doubt if anyone will be there except our kids who might go because it is Father's Day. I understand our kids have been speaking to each other about a cook-out at our house afterwards, pot luck of course.
On Saturday, we will all be at Megan's graduation party, so we'll be together for two days, which will be fun. My youngest is in Scotland, but with luck the rest will be there.
Great surprise for you husband, Alice.

| Alice, my dad died in '82. I will say a prayer to him. Dave will be in NJ with his new daughter. I will send an ecard. The girls and their husbands are going to be on vacation at the Gulf. I was surprised about that since, while their dad is starting to recover from his back surgery, he is still using a walker. I don't know if his stepsons will be with him or with their dad. I, personally, am looking forward to a quiet weekend.

| Ann,
He must have had heavy back surgery to still be using a walker. |

| I bought my David a bottle of Joop and a pair of levi shorts. He looked at the shorts and said "What is wrong with the levi's I cut off when they are full of holes?" I said, "Well, I never saw you wear a real pair of bonafide store bought shorts from Walmart, so I thought I would get you a pair." He said, "You bought two?" Snort! Love, Betty |

| It's his second back surgery. The first was about 10 years ago, and he recovered fairly quickly, but it never completely worked. This was something pretty new, using a cage to support the vertebrae, and adding stem cells from his bone marrow to help with healing. The girls said the pain lasted a long time, and he's slow getting back on his feet. He will be 71 in a few weeks. I don't see him often, and I forget that he's still five years older than I am.

| Betty, your Dave sounds like one of the good guys. I still remember your "wild thang" story.

| Dear Ann, A quiet weekend will be here as well. That is because since the kids did not come out for Mother's Day, they have discussed it and decided that it would not be fitting to come out on Father's Day because they consider that I might feel slighted, which is not the case, but they did discuss this with David and he explained it all to me ...why they are not coming for Father's Day. Balderdash! Love, Betty |

| I'm going to do what I've do every Father's day, sit down and write my dad a letter and catch him up. He's been gone for fifteen years now. Then I'll throw back a couple tequila and have a good cigar. |

| Alice, we each have three brats, none are mutual. Mine are much nicer than his, I fear. |
