I love it when a point is made instead of explained and argued over. No one challenged Abe's like magnets attracting either yet everyone knows the phrase "opposites attract" -- opposite poles attract one another and like poles repel one another -- from the magic carpets thread.

That was my fault, Ann. I do both bashing and swooping, so I asked if I could be a 'swoosher', combining the two.

Shelagh, I think it was just a piece of whimsey that everyone glossed over, perhaps. I will have to check it out.

Shelagh,
You're right about opposites attracting and like repelling. I was a bit disappointed that it wasn't picked up.
One could conclude that I simply screwed up on my post. It may also suggest that the post wasn't read and/or simply ignored.

Either way, Abe, it did demonstrate how accepting people are/inattentive to detail/unsure if something is meant to be amusing/not wanting to offend/skipped the post altogether.

It all helps to make sense of how message boards are used. One day, when I was a teacher, I told one of my classes that my sarcasm was always in jest but I wondered about them. They all blushed. Likewise, I set up the forum to help others and, although members help one another, I also wonder about those who just use the forum for what they want out of it.

All part of the rich tapestry of life.

Now you are confusing me. I did pick up on the magnets repelling and said they could prevent mid-air collisions.

Whew! Swooshing is all right. We are a creative bunch of people, after all, and we can create words if we want to. I kind of think of Shelagh swooshing into a room in the palace to get on her flying magic carpet.

Or did you mean riding her broom?

Would that be a magnetic broom, Dick? Which pole do you think she would go to?

Mrs. Planemaker's Flying Carpet ground to a halt after six chapters (The Power of Persuasion and Forever Friends took over). Maybe Abdul's and Carol's hints are just the kick up the backside I need. Are you a basher or a swooper? - Page 2 402987
