The Good People of Ohio Empty
PostSubject: The Good People of Ohio   The Good People of Ohio EmptySat Jan 03, 2009 5:04 pm

My Stand and Pick hydroponic operation is launched and I have put out flyers, and signs. It was a beginning.

Today, some nice people who were visiting their family came along with the local family members. The older ones were from Ohio. What nice people! They told me of apples to die for and the way they make apple butter.

Everyone who has come here for u-pick has gotten out of the car with a smile upon their faces. Even the old farmers are proud of us. I feel so good about that. They talked vegetables, looked in awe at our operation, picked the strawberries and the vegetables, smelled everything like they were babies in a new experience.

Brew, I want you to know that I have sold as many squash blossoms as strawberries! That is a big bunch. I sell them 10 for a dollar.

I feel that we have done something good.

Once in a while, I get to promote my Wooffer book. I gave one to the local school teacher today. What nice people live here in the country!

But, I knew that already.

Shelagh, You are beaut. I say that with all the love in my heart. Your kind words mean a lot to me. Monday ....

Love,
Betty

I am really proud for you, Betty! You have put in too much work for it
not to be a success. The squash blossoms are a bonus too. The ones left
will do better if not crowded, and they are delicious battered and
deep-fried!

I wouldn't be surprised if some of those old farmers begin a hydroponic operation of their own...

Congratulations, my friend.

Betty, when you have some green tomatoes again, I'd love for you to ship some to me at my cost. I've tried to grow them and have given up, and I've tried to buy them locally, and no one seems to have them. It's crazy how the markets do business. We're in the heart of orange groves, yet driving by, oranges rot on the ground and the local stores import them from South America. Crazy.

But I still want green tomatoes, large enough to slice and fry. That's that southern thing again. I want fried green tomatoes.

I'm glad you're having some success.

Pleased to hear the news, Betty, and glad you got to meet some nice people from Ohio. We have a lot like that up here, and a few real S.O.B.s.

Betty,
sounds exciting. Getting rewards from lots of hard work is good. Meeting other people in the process is a bonus. Just watch out for those S.O.B.s Dick mentioned.
