Through The Swamp

Today, it was raining off and on. Dismal day for dogs. They do like to sleep in the rain.

I had the ribs on the grill, the bean in the pot.

David's grandfather had an old 1960 360 Grove Tractor that had been in his barn for that many years. When he died, David got that old tractor and worked on it until it ran like it should.

He came in and asked if I wanted to go for a ride around the roads. I did.

We took off down the dirt road for a ways, turned off into the swamp and the trees, the palmetto's, the foxfire, the dead trees, the cactus, and the Florida pines. What a lovely trip at 5 mph.
We got home just as the beans were burnt but the ribs were ok. hahah.

It is seldom that we have the time to just go for a lark like that. I suppose that is why it is so special when we do.

If we were to win the lottery, I would love to buy that unspoiled land. 360 acres. We would live in the middle and change very little.

What a glorious way to spend part of your day! It sounds wonderful to me.

Hope you get to do it more often, Betty, and that you do win the lottery and do buy those 360 acres. It would be good for both you and the unspoiled land.

Unspoilt land is more and more of a rare thing. I'm glad you have a sanctuary like that near enough to visit. (I hope you win the lottery.)
