Readers who just glance in may have missed Ann's fall and subsequent brain surgery.  Catch up on her joy thread and wish her  well here.

I do more than glance in and still lacked the details.  May wellness fill you, Ann. Now I understand your being surrounded by international people who are kind - they are in the health care around you.  So, you are already blessed with caring people.  I am so glad - and so sorry you are going through this. At the same time, I admire your spunk to keep up with our little group that seems to be dwindling.

Thank you, Alice, for keeping up.

I knew you did not know, DK.  Thank you for your prompt response.  Shelagh must be on vacation.
We will probably hear from more soon.

In the meantime two or three is better than none.   We have been friends for a long time.

Ann has been and still is my hero.  She is brave beyond words, not just for braving this situation, but for standing up for what is right and noble in mankind, and for being my dear, dear friend. I wish I were as glib as TS Elliot.  Oh!  I could tell her my feelings then.  I do love Ann.
Love,
Betty

PostSubject: Re: Wishing Ann Well   Wishing Ann Well EmptyWed Feb 11, 2015 10:29 am

I'm still not sure what happened, but let me add my voice to those who are wishing you a full and speedy recovery.

On February 16 of last year, I passed out in the bathroom and fell in the floor. I hit my head on the tile ledge that is around the shower, and then spent 8 days in the hospital because of it. I had bleeding on the brain, and then found out I had passed out because of low blood, due to a bleeding ulcer in my large intestine. What fun. They gave me morphine, but I didn't have enough blood in my body, and so my system shut down. Luckily my son, the EMT, was in the room at the time and saw what was happening. He alerted them and they got me back from that. A couple of days later, while in my room, I had another dang heart attack. I was lucky that I didn't have to undergo any surgery such as you have Ann, and am only relating what happened to me to give you a bit of encouragement. You're a strong person, and I have no doubt you will make a full recovery with no after effects.

I don't know all of what you have gone through, but I do see the support of your friends here, and that is always a wonderful thing to see. With so many people concerned about you, I think it will only be a matter of time before you are back to 100%.

Take care of yourself, and good luck in the rehab.

E. Don,

Thank you for coming.  We are the old guard and have been through much together.  If you want to know more about Ann's situation, look on her joy thread.

So glad you turned out good.

You got me through a by pass operation

Your old  friend,

Alice

Alice was kind enough to contact me about your condition Ann, else I would not have known either as I don't pop here these days as much as I'd like. You're in my thoughts and prayers. And it was really good to see your brief post above. Let others around you be brave for once and take care of YOU. Get well soon! (Betty said it all in typical spot-on fashion!) And thanks again, Alice, for keeping us informed.

Thank you for your always kind words, Victor.  You are part of the old gang now. Your kind words have assured you a place.

I am hoping Ann is doing well and enjoying rehab. Speak up Ann, if you don't feel great-there may be a reason.  One morning they, the gun ho rehabers,
took me to the door of my room and pointed me down the hall.  "Walk down there, its only 300 feet" they ordered.

I slumped into my chair and said,  "Take my blood pressure."
They did and it was 76 over 59.  End of rehab that day.   Wishing Ann Well 588578 Wishing Ann Well 588578 Wishing Ann Well 588578

PostSubject: Re: Wishing Ann Well   Wishing Ann Well EmptyFri Feb 13, 2015 5:18 am

Yesterday was a busy day. Mostly good. 3 hours of therapy: physical, occupational (every day basic tasks so they wiil know it/s safe to let me go home), and then, and then, mental tasks to see if the surgery fried my brain. i keep telling them I've never been able to solve those darn logic problems. i'm just not a logical person. they smie at me and make me take them anyway. one pt task bugged me. They made me climb stairs that's how I fell! I managed two steps. They took xrays of my knees Wed evening. I asked them to wait for the results. They smiled and made me do it anyway. Then, they wanted me to eat lunch in the dining room I just said no to that one. It seems there is a conflict beteen the business office, which puhes the DR, and the staff, wuich says we sometimes just need to be alone, and yesterday was one of hose days

But Dave called last night. They will be here *in my room 0 aroung 4 tonight! Woo hoo!

Ann,

Been there…done that!!!!

You need to tough it out.  They really do know what they’re doing.
I had to go twice a day for a month.  An hour of occupational and two hours of physical.  The first day I couldn’t even stand, I did two minutes and got sick…by the end of the month I was able to walk well enough to go home.  I then did another month of outpatient twice a week for physical.  I would get really discouraged, but they pushed and in the end it was all worth it.  I took the ladies a huge bouquet and passed hugs all around, thanking them for pushing me.

God Bless

This too shall pass, Ann. Rehab is a royal pain of the literal and metaphorical kind, but like Don notes it is worth it in the end. Besides, you're not going to let anything get you down for long. You are INVINCIBLE a FORCE OF NATURE and very, very SPECIAL. Get well soon. Allow yourself the time to heal. think of all the great things that you still need to do. Rest today. Heal today. Normalcy will return tomorrow. God bless you!

Better today. Got results of xrays and the drs here finally talked to my rheumatologist. Now things make more sense. I had thought that the weakness in my legs was due to muscle weakness in my thigh and calf muscles. I was right. Dr Nelson said someching I realized he had been implying, that my current knee problems were due to an older osteoarthritis, brought on from my dancing days when I was younger.

Today I worked with Ron. We focused on resistance machines. I'm totally exhausted, but it was very effective.

Dave and family due here at 4.
