I save everything. I am angry because a friend of mine worked on my computer and eliminated some "useless" stuff - bits of paragraphs saved as single words. I would be able to find them. Not anymore. They might have had just the right word I needed.

I have made many errors in "saving." I've written over important documents and even novel iterations that I wished I had today. Sometimes the original is really better than the final, polished, perfectly written and grammatically correct in third person work with no soul.

This last week I have experienced computer problems, so this blog was timely. I have Carbonite which helps saves some stuff. I also have one external hard drive which has some more and I have the old hard drive which I'm cleaning out.

I store everything in dropbox - but that doesn't completely solve the erase problem. I erased my dropbox and they had to rebuild it. Since I have the free one, I was lucky I discovered my error within 30 days - after that my erased stuff is gone from dropbox unless I buy a pkg.
