| Hi Anne, I have been out covering little lemon and limes, the Ixoria, my grove pepper hedge, the tropical corn plants the hibiscus. David is bringing home frost cloth for the strawberries. The cabbages, cauliflower and broccoli are singing out loud with glee. They do like it cold. I imagine it is a one night affair. I see no reason to let everything freeze to the ground for one night of freezing and then have to regroup all the way to spring. I doubt that it is getting all that cold where DK lives. It is south of me and close to the water. SHE can have an avocado tree if she wants. Here, it would not make it through the first winter. I hope you are warm your own self! Love, Betty |

| Thanks for thinking of us. I am 5 miles from the Gulf so I think I will be warmer. My mom is glad she is not in Michigan! My brother in Michigan is not driving the hour to his workplace - one of the few times in 30 years. The road salt won't touch the ice at the temperatures they are having.
Betty has the work to do! I have a few marigolds; maybe they will survive. They are hardy. If they don't, I can plant more. My other tropical tree, frangiopangi, is not in bloom and will hopefully survive.
The Day After or something like that was just on tv - about a polar vortex that froze the northern half of the world above the equator.....
Then there was 2012 where the world was swallowed in water.
It's beginning to feel like science fiction....polar vortex in Michigan? and dropping as low as Florida? Polar vortex? |

| Hi Diane, we are covered up. It is not possible to save every thing from damage but we have done our best. David came home with some frost cloth and we did what we could in the wind. Clothes pins are a dead loss as connectors. We used vice clamps. It is 47 out on the patio, under the trees at this minute. The wind has died to about 10 mph. I am glad we do not live in the polar vortex, what ever it is. I have not had time to find out. I will look into that tomorrow. Keep warm, my friend. Love, Betty |

| Anne, The rest of the country should be as snug and warm as Diane and I. I wonder about thos -47 people. I saw a post on FB where a nice woman took her son out to blow bubbles in the freezing temps. To her surprise, the bubbles froze and did not melt until the sun came up the next day. Awesome mom she is. Love, Betty |
