I enjoy your thought-provoking posts.  In Ghost Orchid, I wrote about music enjoyed by Mel.  When she turned on the radio she didn't want classical or country music to bring on a host of tears but rather turned to the pops station.

Music may set a mood for sure.  Romance with classical, tears with country music and a variety of emotions with a variety of pops.

Yep, Mallory of Beta and Alpha likes a variety of music. In her next action mystery I'm trying to find a way to insert heart break songs into the story as a little dig into her situation,

There's no more heartbreaking songs than country music.  If I want to be sad about past lost loves, that's the music to listen too.

Blues are great for tears, too.

If I want to pine for someone that I love now, then I listen to Whitney Houston or similar modern music.

If I just want to be mellow, I listen to classical music.

If I want to smile and tap my foot, I go rock and roll.
