| As one grows older, muscles and bones are often the source of pain. Arthritis is a frequent cause and relief is sought. I had mentioned that I had Arthroses in my shoulder. That is a bit different from Arthritis – more like osteoarthritis. Regardless it is painful. To avoid an operation, the Doctor tried a number of solutions: Therapy, Radiation treatment, Magnetic treatment along with pain medication. None of that worked and the pain persisted. Prescription salves didn’t help. Last week he suggested I try “Pherdesalbe” (Horse Salve). I think it is referenced in English as Horse Liniment. I forgot to ask him where I could find it and asked around. A friend here in my village said he had some and would give me some of his. I got several spoons of the substance in a small jar. It is blue/green in color and is in a Jell-form. I used it for several days and the pain has gone away. I haven’t used a pain tablet since I started using the Salve. Yesterday when we visited the Doctor as follow-up for my wife’s pneumonia, he asked about my shoulder and I told him the result. I added that I was concerned about the possible side-effects. Would I start stomping my feet and Whinny? He said so long as I don’t start eating Hay I should be okay. He said that there was another substance that I could try. It is the venom of bees made into a salve. It reminded me of an old woman I knew that had Bee Hives. When she tended the Bees, she wore something over her head for protection, but nothing on her arms and hands. She said that the sting of the Bees helped her Arthritis – reducing and eliminating the pain for a period of time. Therefore what the Doctor suggested made sense based on that recollection. I don’t want to be stung by Bees, besides once they sting you they die, and that is not a good thing since we need Honey Bees. Anyone else that found remedies to reduce or eliminate pain without a prescription? |

| My arthritis expecialy severe in my hands, which makes typing a bit difficult some days. I have been using a combination of glucosamine and chondroitin - natural substances you can buy at the vitamin counters at supermarkets and drugstores. It helps quite a lot, especially if I remember to take it regurlarly. It comes in several combinations, often with other herbal supplements. Boron seems very effective when it is part of the compound. I also use rubs that contain capsaicin - I think I spelled it correctly - which is the substance in hot peppers that makes them hot. It has been very effective, too. It starts to work immediately and lasts several hours.
Just my personal experience, but you might look into them. |

| Hi Abe,
My father suffers from arthritis. When I say suffer, I mean really suffer. His hands bruise very easily and sometimes he cannot straighten his fingers. This is not a chronic, annoying pain that won't go away. It's debilitating and interferes with his day to day life. For more than ten years he has religiously followed the regime suggested in this book:
http://www.amazon.de/Freedom-Arthritis-Through-Nutrition-Delicious/dp/0930852281
It received a one star review on amazon.com:
"My assumption is that everyone's starting point should be a balanced diet. For various reasons, a particular person might be advised to limit salt or avoid gluten or peanuts. The assumption here is that everyone should start with a highly restrictive diet, that every food is poisonous until proven otherwise. You have arthritis? Give yourself 2-a-day enemas for a week, then fast, then eat nothing but apples for another week -- though your local grocer has probably poisoned those with wax and pesticides. Every 4 days, you can add another food.
It seems like a good way to lose weight, especially muscle mass. Does it reduce inflammation? Maybe, though Advil is easier. Does it regrow cartilage? It seems unlikely."
For those who don't really suffer and don't want to put themselves out the way that patients have to do to get the full benefit, the recommended diet is too stringent. They are looking for quick fixes and this is anything but a quick remedy. It does work. If my father cheats, he doesn't feel the effect immediately, but if he continues to eat foods that he shouldn't, the pain comes back. My father then has to abstain from eating, drinking only water for a day, and then avoid all the foods that break the rules laid down in the book. You might wonder why he sometimes eats the wrong food. He's human. He's tempted to eat things he knows he shouldn't. Sometimes he gets away with it. Other times, just one relapse can cause the pain to come flooding back. If it's Christmas or his birthday, he's willing to gamble a little. Then it's back to the diet and a pain free life. |

| 11/22/2013 When I went to the Dr. he had me take an MRI for my left shoulder, the specialist said I had torn ligiments in my shoulder and I should have surgery , I said "NO!" he then recommended steroid shots, which I've had before, I said I'll think about it. I usually take IB Profin and sleep on my right side so I don't put pressure on my shoulder... Abe.. I heard of a remedy years ago for arthritis, you mix Apple Cider Vinegar with honey, it's suppose to eliminate the crystla build up between the joints, I'll see if I can find the article.. Cheers..Joe.. |

| 11/22/2013 Sometimes old fashion remedies work better, I remember as a kid if I had a fever you got an aspirin and Spirit Of Anita, years later it disappeared at the drugstore, the druggist telling me it was pure alcohol, it was banned, hello it got rid of a high fever. Another one we got as a kid was called Junior Quatar it was awful , bitter and you took it with a teaspoon of sugar, it knocked the cold right out of you. Another one was 666 a yellow liquid for colds , bitter but it worked.. Cheers...Joe... |

| Good info, Joe. I may elect to endure some pain rather than give up coffee. At the moment, I'm pleased with the salve I'm applying. I realize that is not a permanent solutiion and the diet tips are an important consideration. Why is it that the things we enjoy in life are either, illegal, immoral or fattening? Just isn't fair. I didn't see where chocolate is a negative so at least I can enjoy my daily dose of chocolate, although I like may have to avoid the nuts in the chocolate. |

| I suggest googling it. I googled it, however it reflects Euros or British Pounds as cost. If you google it from where you are, you can find it and order it in dollars. Or, you may visit a Shop near you that caters to people with horses. They most likely will have it. |
