Well DK it's interesting that you mention that because that is not the case, I have written several pieces that have little to no sex in them, YODO about the afterlife, Hero In The Hood about a Navy SEAL that come home and brings down criminals in the neighborhood and Queen of Pain about a woman climbing the social ladder while breaking the hearts of several men. I feel that these three books are some of my best work and they barely got any notice. One of them I felt was maybe my best short work never sold a copy. My longer works got great reviews, Ratchet Woman and Ratchet Woman 2 and the combined Ratchet Woman 1 & 2 that dealt with two women and their journey to maintain their dignity while facing tough circumstances as single mothers. I dug deep in those and got some sales but nothing like the sales of the racier and actually easier to write lightweight pieces.
I'm finding that plot and character development is being trumped by action, drama and sexual content. My work that does contain sex still has more plot and character development than most of the stuff I have sampled that is on sale right now.
There is a short piece that I sampled that had no plot and started with sex action out of the block. It was a collection of one page sex stories and had 36 5 star reviews. I'm not going to stop writing what I consider to be good quality work, but that doesn't mean that good quality work can't come in all forms. Making sales draws readers to my other work that has more depth to it. I have to listen to the market and my head when I write, I didn't always do that. Even Massive Monroe has small elements of two hot topics in today's world, body image issues and bullying.
