| A cousin sent me a link to a funny about beer. The link didn't work, ist had swf at the end, so I removed it and tried again. This is where it took me: http://mithuro.com/presscuefiles/january/beer_goggle I was surprised to say the least, to see our cover there, and even more surprised to read the comments on the 'read more' link! And they don't even put the title up there with the picture!! |

| That's good news, Shelagh! Seeing your UK spelling of the word "license" made me curious. Did you use a combination of UK and US spellings in the anthology, depending on where the author lived, or did you change them all to UK?
I don't have any preference about it!

| Hi Malcolm, You must have missed this message on the update thread: - Quote :

When a group of members from the Published Authors Forum shared their thoughts about how best to use each other’s talents, the seed of an idea was planted. That idea grew into a suggestion that forum members should contribute to an anthology of poems and short stories with the theme of friendship.
Over the following months, I received wonderful poems and short stories from all corners of the world. This posed an editorial problem as submissions arrived written in both American English and Standard English. I made the decision to present the work as written by the authors, which adds to the world wide appeal of the book.
The short story has enjoyed something of a revival in recent years as the pace of life has increased and busy schedules leave less time for reading. The attraction of this collection of work lies in the varying lengths, diversity and variety of genres: from romance and mystery to fantasy and science fiction. There is something for everyone. While some are short and pithy, others are thought-provoking and satisfying. All are entertaining. Shelagh Watkins
I am working on the final edit and should be finished in a couple of days. I have completed twenty-eight of thirty-three short stories and twenty-one of twenty-eight poems. That's 246 of 300 pages. Only 54 pages to go! I must admit it is very taxing work and I'll be glad when it's finished. |

- Standard English
Standard English, also known as Standard Written English or SWE, is the form of English most widely accepted as being clear and proper. Publishers, writers, educators, and others have over the years developed a consensus of what standard English consists of. It includes word choice, word order, punctuation, and spelling. Standard English is especially helpful when writing because it maintains a fairly uniform standard of communication which can be understood by all speakers and users of English regardless of differences in dialect, pronunciation, and usage. This is why it is sometimes called Standard Written English. UK English? Is that like US American? |

| O mo chreach! UK English tells me it's only England's version as opposed to, say, Highland English or Scots. I, for one, hope Gaeligh will sweep English out of Scotland so people can speak properly again. America, of course, is a continent and not a nation, so "US American" tells you that the Canadians are still speaking and writing that old fashioned stuff with words for automobiles like tyres, boot, and bonnet, and that the Mexicans and Central Americans don't see English as a first language at all. Nonetheless, you're still doing a a wonderful job on the anthology. |

| Malcolm, You can't have the last word. If there's one thing we gave the world, it's the English language and, no matter how much folks across the pond try to claim it as their own to do with it what they will, the Brits will win. We even beat you in the paralympics. It took a nation the size of China to beat us. Just like the English language, we started the paralympics and we are still waiting for the US to catch up. |

| ... well it was until I uploaded the file! Lulu's wizard didn't like the fonts for the headings so I had to change them all! I couldn't wave a magic wand. I had to keep trying different fonts until it accepted one ... then I had to change all the headings! It has taken me all day but the downloaded pdf file looks good and is ready to go. Tomorrow, I'll upload the cover. Then the ISBN ... |
