Looks like the supreme court is considering changes that would make it easy for the very rich to fund a candidate without limits or disclosure.  That, it seems to me, would be going backwards.

There are already problems with disenfranchising voters due to the court's changes to the Voting Rights Act.

I was talking to a friend from Canada.  He said from the outside looking in the U.S. citizens have no say in the party or the politics.  Everything in the U.S. is run by the Koch brothers, the PACs, the organizations with the best paid lobbyists and the international corporation giants behind closed doors manipulating the campaign rhetoric to meet their needs - from either party.

The political parties have no control over their members, their leadership has no control over the representatives, the voters have no control.

DK, I do believe that it is so.  I wonder if it is too late to reverse that and give power back to the people in the vote.  As long as the media is allowed to make up the news, I do not see change happening.
It seems to me, that the populace needs to demand truth in news broadcasting.
Will that happen in my lifetime?  I doubt it.  Like Joe always says, we the people should be in control.  But, we the people are a brainwashed people who have no knowledge of anything other than the job we work at, and what is presented by the websites and news programs that are on prime time.  Most people cannot have access to the sites that present what is really happening because they are working, have no idea where to find the truth, or both.

The Koch Brothers are the insidious Mr. Big.  I am sure that they have planned that program from years back.
How to take a country back, well, that is the question.  Campaign finance reform will take a long, long time.  I do believe that this country will sink...regardless of the flag waving and maybe because of the cross carrying of the population that are with out brain.

Sinclaire Lewis said, "If fascism comes to america, it will be wearing a flag and carring a cross."  I hope I have that quote spelled right.  I do believe that the shows like Limbaugh, Beck and others are the standard bearers.

Love,
Betty

Agree with you both, but I also think that more people are waking you to what has been happening, and that awareness nay help to turn things around.

It also seems that the Republican Party is on the way out, and their current behabior is a desperate last stand.

Those things together may lead to a turn around during the next couple of years.

Campaign reform could make a big difference.  So could laws to prevent gerrymandered voting districts.  If all the manipulations to create a false vote could be eliminated and more than 65% of the people went to the poles after some realistic analysis of the differences in parties and candidates, wow, wouldn't that be swell.

As it is, people are just too lazy to get information beyond their tv and radio and surrounded by like-minded friends, well, what can be expected?

Those who know how to manipulate to meet their needs control the elections.  Period.  That does not include you and me.
