Just because someone owns a company doesn't mean they can't be a crackpot, a racist, a weirdo, etc.

It's touch being an employee these days. Employers are free to dump and rehire because so many people are in the pool needing a job.

Hopefully, the good employers will come out well in the end. I do believe that good wins out the majority of the time; it's just that evil is noisier.

From what the article states all of the country except 5

states is at will to work, if they don't like you they can fire

you at will....Nice country ?

Republicans love right to work and will to work states, and hate unions. That's because the unions still stand up for the employees, kind of, and the right wing doesn't like that.

Walmart was a very large chain in Germany when I came here in 2001. We enjoyed shopping there because of the large variety of goods and things familiar to us. It wasn't long before we began reading about problems with Walmart. They were under much pressure from the government to comply with rules concerning employees. Walmart apparently refused to comply and pay the penalties and the stores were closed. The stores were taken over by another firm, REAL, and REAL provides similiar products. The store's layout didn't change, just the ownership and management. There are rules for any company concerning employees. They know the rules going in, and if they don't go by the rules, they can expect to be penalized.

Minimum wage, working hours and benefits provide workers protection from ruthless employers. It is much like the unions who go to bat for their members.

The big loser was Walmart. The greatest benefit was for the employees who were hired by the company who bought out Walmart. Control is needed to protect the employees. The rules are fair. Firing is possible with justification and advance notice.

Employers who treat their employees fairly will have people who they can count on during hard times. IBM is a good example of an employer who took care of their people and provided them with benefits.
