| All right, don't all you libs get offended. Just remember the plethora of Bush jokes you all made up. Lighten up and go with it.
Anyway, the teacher asked her elementary class who was an Obama lover. All but one kid raised hands. The teacher asked the boy why he wasn't an Obama lover.
“Because I'm a Republican,” he said.
“Well, why are you a Republican?” the teacher asked.
“Because my dad is a Republican and my mom is a Republican.”
“That makes no sense," the teacher chided. "Think of it this way. If your dad was an idiot and your mom was an idiot, what would that make you then?”
The kid smiled and said, “Well, that would make me an Obama lover.” |

| It is a funny joke; however, I didn't make jokes about President Bush and don't make them about any sitting president in a demeaning way. It's not a matter of light or serious for me; it is a matter of respect for the Office of the President as I was taught - and I've held onto that premise in spite of the turn of the country to respecting no one and nothing.
I also don't make jokes about sensitive issues like race, religion, sexual orientation, handicap, blonds, redheads, etc.
I believe it is easy to make jokes about differences. The talented comedian is the one who connects with all people over a joke of the moment - husbands and wives, families, sports, and issues from daily life that we all experience. A person who makes jokes about their own lives is also clever.
A disgruntled employee once sent me a picture of a red convertible with an unattractive redhead driving and a bird flying over doing its business. They wrote my name on the cartoon. I never forgot it - it still stings.
Jokes carry an element of our own perspective in them. It's often a way of saying something mean in a lighter way to get away with it.
I change jokes a lot to still get a laugh without demeaning anyone. |

| I was taught never to call anyone an idiot, DK, but I still thought the joke was funny. |

| I also thought it was funny. It's just a personal thing with me not to tell that type of joke or to laugh in public when hearing one. It's something I "feel" and has nothing to do with liberal or conservative; it's just a piece of my upbringing that stuck firmly. |

| You can change the words around to reflect the other political party. It's been done before. I don't necessarily find them offensive, I just go with it and say ha-ha and move on.
Blonde jokes, in part, derived because they became a little easier to handle than what we used to tell when I was young- the deragatory term for the Polish. Remember those jokes? I will admit the PC crowd, with all of their over the top nonsense sometimes, did get this one right. But, I don't think they influenced me as much as I came to realize on my own that the term was stupid and demeaning and I didn't understand why the Polish were singled out. The jokes could have easily been aimed at the British or Bulgarians or Finns. Whoever decided on Poles?
Anyway...
One has to realize that jokes are funny because they exaggerate life's foibles, ironies, and amusing moments. They're funny because they have a little grain, just a little, of truth to them that people can relate to. Yes, there are some jokes that are insulting to people or certain people because of the stereotypical elements of the joke. I don't care for those.
However, with blonde jokes, I don't get too upset because I don't look at them as specifically insulting. I'm blond (or was before I grayed) but I don't relate the jokes to just 'blonde' people. I don't look at a blonde and automatically stereotype her (or him) as stupid or less intelligent. Hec, I wish I had MORE blonde women in my life. Well...at least one more...anyway, that's another topic. lol
The point here is that I'm glad you weren't offended because none was intended. I thought the joke humorous because it was something new I hadn't heard before. I've heard the rehashed Bush and Clinton jokes and I'm glad some people have gotten over the notion that just because Obama is black means that we can't poke fun at him because we might be deemed racist. I never cared whether he was black, yellow, purple, or plaid. I disagreed, and still do, with his policies.
Sheesh, if he was blonde, just think of the extra fun we could have. lol |

| My favorite joke is about the car accident that sent a young woman, her mother and her dad to the hospital, but the chimp in the car with them was wandering yet on the highway. The policeman had no one to ask about the accident and thought "who knows, maybe the chimp knows something." So he approached the chimp and asked him what happened. The chimp pointed to the back seat of the car and indicated a loud ear sound. "Oh," said the policeman. "The girl had her music too loud, the father turned around to tell her and that caused the accident." The chimp pointed instead to the right seat and made faces like a person talking a lot and making sweeping arm motions. "Oh, now I get it," said the policeman. "The woman was telling the man about the loud music and the two argued about asking the daughter to turn it down. The man was distracted and caused the accident." Finally, the chimp was tired of all this. He managed to pry open the door on the driver's side, get in and put both hands on the steering wheel, moving it back and forth and grinning. |

| Favourite Irish joke. Paddy, who missed the Saturday afternoon football match, bumped into his mate, Mick.
Paddy: "Did you go to the match this afternoon?" Mick: "Aye, I did." Paddy: "What was the final score?" Mick: "Nil Nil." Paddy: "And what was the half-time score?" |

| See, this isn't offensive to me even though it's Irish based. This could easily be a blonde joke. |

| An old joke. I used it in my ventriloquist act about a decade ago. The original joke was: Why are you a Yankees fan?
When I used it, it was Republican and Democrat. I didn't single out a particular politician.
But, as a comedian, I sure miss Bill Clinton and George Bush.

| My best friend and her daughters are natural blonds and lovely all their lives. They chose men who needed women who were beautiful but not as bright. So, they molded themselves to that image. In reality, my friend is a magnificent real estate manager; her one blond daughter is an obstetrician, gynecologist and her other is a psychologist. Yet, if you meet them, they have their dumb blond roles well learned so they don't outshine their men.
Me, I was always auburn. I found playing dumb to keep a man stupid. If a man didn't want an intelligent woman, I didn't want him either. Unfortunately my choices were still not quite the right ones. Maybe playing dumb would have been a better choice after all.
Another close friend is also an attractive blond. It has worked against her in the workplace in terms of promotions. I saw it happen.
Those friends from opposite sides of the U.S. found blond jokes irritating. I did also on their behalf.
I think the nil nil joke is funny, but the Irish really had a lot of prejudice and I don't make jokes about them, especially since I'm 1/2 Irish and English. |

| I like to laugh and jokes can supply humor. One can usually predict the type of joke a person will tell. Trying to be funny is an attention getter for some.
I would rather be with a laughing crowd than sitting with boring people who have no humor. I imagine it would be much like sitting together with a group of Nuns. Certain people do have characteristics that can be the blunt of jokes. I like blonds - always did, but the dumb blond jokes can be funny, especiually when told by a blond. |

| As for Obama. I'm not a lover of any President. I'm pleased that Obama is our President. We've never had a perfect President and never will. Obama has integrity, is well-spoken and is trying to do things for the benefit of all citizens. At least that is my opinion. Whether he can win the battle with a Republican Congress who have worked hard to defeat his proposals, is yet to be seen. He cannot be compared with Bush - the worst President our country has ever had. My opinions are my own. |

| A friend sent me a squeeze toy with a bobble head that looked like former President Bush. It was a disgusting silly thing. I left it in the plastic and it's somewhere around here in some box. I know she thought it was funny. I found it disrespectful of the Office of the President even though I found the Bush years depressing, freedom limiting, and a disaster for the U.S. from which we may never fully recover. |
