Hi all.
My name is Nick and I'm an alcoholic, I mean; budding author.

I've done the easy bit; written my novel.
I am looking to have it edited and proof read. It's 50,800 words I would say it's Genre: Experimental. more accurate description: Fiction, adult theme (Erotic fiction) but with an action thriller sub plot and dark comedic overtones. If it were a musical piece, I would describe it as: Heavy metal/Punk rock/Soul.
Can anyone recommend the services of an inexpensive proof reader (Kindly English Teacher's perhaps?) It will require some grammar and punctuation as I only managed a grade C in English
Language and a D in English Lit. (Oops)

Thanks in advance!

Hi Peeps and thanks for the warm welcome!

I guess the majority of you are published authors. I was once on the staff of a
regional newspaper and wrote a number of motoring articles but never attempted
anything as ambitious as this before.

2012 and I'd just completed my first novel! Now it's 2015 and I've just finished my third novel and a 2nd edition of the first.
Update: No change except that I no longer think of my writing as a possible revenue strain. I write because I enjoy it, my tiny following of fans enjoy it and with their encouragement I keep going.
Does it pay well? My debt mountain is less than that of Greece but still a long way from break-even.
My next project is a work of Literary fiction; because I think I am ready for it, and because I have an idea for a story which I want to write, even if no-one want's to read it. I only wish I was young again so that I could live in a caravan, smoke French cigarettes without filters, and listen to old scratchy jazz records whilst trying to reach the worm at the bottom of the Tequila bottle. Cool

Welcome Nick.  I think you are taking the right approach.  Write your story and let someone else do the editing.  Having a good story is more important than perfectly correct grammer.  Having your story read by a disinterested person before publication is good.

As always, this is just my opinion.

Hi Nick, congratulations on finishing your novel!! I recently finished my first as well and I know how wonderful that feels Smile

I would like to throw my hat in the ring if you still need a proofreader/editor - I'm a professional technical writer with 13 years of writing experience, a bachelor's degree in Professional Writing, and a master's in Library and Information Science. I have lots of on-the-job experience with proofreading and copy editing, but I'm looking to establish myself as a freelancer so I'd love to take a look at your novel at an introductory rate.

Please take a look at my website (myghostwriter.rocks) and the samples of my work there, and let me know if you're interested!

Best of luck to you!
Kaylin
