| Writing now full time. The Martin Cole series of novels is now up to five completed, crime+humour, with location Devon where I still live part of the year. Also have recently moved on to something harder in crime, writing as Nick Poulton, with novels based in Blackpool, where I grew up.

| Hi Alan,
Welcome to the forum. I'm in Lancashire at the moment. Yesterday, we went out for a pub lunch in Pendleton. Good luck with the books! |

| Thanks for the welcome. It's taken a while to get back, there seem so many things to do lately. I've been trying to get a few things sorted before my annual migration down to Italy, which starts Friday.

Ah Pendleton. I lived in Nelson for a while between the ages of 5 and 8, and although it isn't a particularly beautiful place I still remember being taken out into the country for walks by my father, and visiting places like Gisburn, Clitheroe, and Pendle Hill, a place with a lot of history. |

| Nelson isn't a particularly beautiful place (dark satanic mills) but the surrounding countryside is magnificent. There's power in them there hills -- as the cotton mill owners realised to their profit! Certainly is an area full of history (witches and warlords); this year, it's 400 years since the Pendle Witch Trial. The literay heritage is pretty impressive too: Tolkien spent his summers in a cottage close to Stonyhurst college where his son was a pupil (and later a school teacher); Sir Arthur Conan Doyle another famous ex-pupil. East of Pendle Hill lies Howarth, home of the Brontes. It's a fascinating place for authors looking for inspiration!
I have fond memories of Blackpool -- much of my ill-spent youth was spent there! |
