Tag Lines

What are your thoughts about putting tag lines after questions?

"What are your thoughts about putting tag lines after questions?" he asked.

Is it necessary or does the ? imply asking?

Same with !.

"Well, answer me!" he shouted.

Is it necessary to add the tag here or shoudl the sentence and tone of the conversation already be expressed?

The "he asked" after a question mark does seem redundant.

Sometimes the narrator might feel a need to go further, I suppose.

"Why can't you forgive me?"

Mary's silence frightened him more than any response she might have given.

"Answer me!"

I like this. I also think you do need a tag line if more than two people are talking and it might be unclear as to who's asking the quesiton.
