Am I not a person with a heart that beats?
Am I not a person with a pint of blood that bleeds?
Am I not a person who cries with sorrow?
Am I not a person who does not think about tomorrow?

If I am not human, then what am I?

Am I not a person who feels pain when depressed?
Am I not worthy of receiving the best?
Am I not a person who wonders what life is about?
Am I not a person who tries hard not to go the other route?

If I am not human, then what am I?

Am I wrong for falling in love with someone who does not love me back?
Am I wrong for trying to keep my head in tact?
Am I wrong for expressing my pain through my work?
Am I wrong for being nice instead of being a jerk?

If I am not human, then what am I?

Am I wrong for reaching out to others when times get rough?
Am I wrong for showing others love?
Am I wrong for constantly forgiving those who hurt me?
Finally, am I wrong for submitting to a man who does not deserve me?

If I am not human, then what am I?
I don't know; you tell me.

Brilliantly put, if I'd have known I'd have asked for permission for it
to be the foreword in my new book, problem is by my own thoughts and
the actions of the US government I'm apparently not human, having been
issued with my official alien number, nevertheless in the vernacular of
those far younger than myself...I feel ya!
